Making pizza with cousin Matt!

Last week we had dinner at Matt and Renee's house with some friends whom I had met on a trip to South Africa last year. Nora helped Matt make a couple of gluten-free pizzas which were amazing!

Hiking the pipeline trail

This morning we went for a hike along the pipeline trail, a right-of-way for a massive water pipeline that extends from the Snoqualmie River valley to Seattle. Today was the first clear day we have had in over a month, so we took advantage of it and went all the way to the top of the hill so that we could check out the views of the mountains on either side of us.

What is this?

Nic's new scary trick is to hold his breath when crying. He has held it so long that he has passed out; four times now! This is so freaking scary, I can't even explain. We've looked up things on line about this and it sounds like something that many people have experienced with their children, but I'm not sure that gives me much comfort. We see Nic's doctor on Friday, so we'll see what she says.

Anyone ever experienced this before?

Nora's snowman

The snow continued to fall today, and while mommy and daddy took turns shoveling out the driveway, Nora was hard at work building her first snowman of the season.

Getting ready for Christmas

Grandma and Grandpa finally made it to Seattle this afternoon on their second attempt. Uncle Drew's flight was diverted to Portland because of a medical emergency but should be here in a few minutes...and Auntie Pea has made it to Detroit, where she will stop for the night before continuing on to Seattle in the morning.

Playing in the snow with Mommy

Nora put her snowpants on and entertained Mommy, who was outside shoveling this morning.

Snowstorm!

Like much of the northern US, we got record-breaking levels of snow over the last few weeks. Fortunately for us, the electricity has stayed on throughout the storm (unlike the one we had two years ago). We saw a maintenance crew last night around 11 PM cutting branches away from the power lines with a chainsaw.

All of our neighbors' trees seem to be staying put so far, although one of them looks dangerously close to falling over...you can see it in this picture directly above the guest room window.

The snow has caused all kids of problems including cancelled flights...Grandma and Grandpa were originally supposed to arrive in Seattle earlier this morning, but after a long drive up to the Minneapolis airport they were informed that their flight had been cancelled due to weather. They are going to make another attempt on Wednesday.
