Nicolas weighed in at 6 pounds 15.5 ounces yesterday at his one week check up. This was a huge gain considering he only weighed 6 lb. 7 oz. at our postpartum check up the previous Friday! This is a big departure from our experience with Nora's sluggish weight gain. The boobs are working their magic!
Nic is starting to keep his eyes open more often...especially at night! Last night was better, but the night before he was awake for three hours straight. All his wanted to do was look around and eat. Hopefully that won't happen again. It makes me SO tired!

Good news! Nic is becoming a big boy in a hurry. Thanks for the text message on this topic, April. We hope Nora is sleeping better these days.
I can relate to the "tired". I remember when Eric was born, and I went for my post partum check up, I fell asleep in the waiting room!!! Having two children and nursing one of them can be exhausting!!

Congratulations April and family! Nicolas is so cute! I am glad to hear that he is healthy and that you are both doing well. I am just wondering, do you sit up to nurse or do you nurse lying down? I have been nursing lying down, day and night, for the last five and a half years (almost three years with Anna and 15 months and going strong with Emma), and I always basically get a full night`s sleep (unless of course they are sick, on occasion). I tried nursing sitting up in bed or in a chair a few times at night, and within about a minute I thought I was going to totally lose my mind and have to give up the baby for adoption or something (just kidding with the adoption of course, but it really was absolutely unbearable, just torture). I also read somewhere that the baby is a lot more relaxed when lying down. Plus, there is a lot less "danger" that the baby will wake up while being moved back into its crib when it just sleeps next to the mother all night. I know that everyone has their own way of doing it, but that is just my fifty or so cents` worth! Whatever you do, I sure hope you do start getting more sleep soon!
