Nic's two month stats

Nic had his two month doctor visit today. He's 23 3/4" long and weighs a whopping 10 lbs. 14 oz. He has grown 5 inches in the past two months!

New Latin Friends

Three ladies, "The Latin Ladies", came over with their children on Friday morning for coffee and lunch together. Everyone in the bunch has two or three children. Nadia's children are both school age and so is one of Monica's, so they weren't able to come, but the house was filled with the six other children.

Here are four of them lined up before Maria Teresa had to leave.

Sorry Grandma Maxwell!

This was Grandma Maxwell's piano. Nora and her new friend Natalia decided that it would be fun to put play dough on each key. Nice, huh?

Crazy Hair

After pre-school today, I took Nora's hat off to find bangs sticking straight up. As we walked out to the car, they waved back and forth. I asked Nora how she thought we could fix her bangs when we got home. She replied that we should get out the scissors!

Nic just slept for 8 hours straight!

Nic is Two Months Old!

Nic's two month appointment isn't until the 29th, so you'll have to wait until then for his stats, but he is definitely over ten pounds at this point. He is comfortably fitting into three month clothes and quite a few outfits have already been retired! We have abandoned the newborn diapers for size one, even though the closet is stuffed to the gills with newborn diapers purchased in bulk. Strangely enough, we have felt two bottom teeth just under the surface of his gums for the past few days. I'm not sure if they are just floating around in there or if they are going to make their debut much earlier than Nora's first tooth at seven and a half months. Nic is consistently sleeping for six to seven hour stretches at night making it much easier on Mommy and Daddy.

Noraisms

My most favorite Noraisms of the moment are the kind that make me laugh every time she says them! The one used most often right now is "finger nail hanger". This means she has a hang nail. I've stopped saying hang nail myself because it is so much fun to say "finger nail hanger"!

The other is every time she sees the letters N, O, R, or A, she yells out (ok, so most everything she says right now is in a yelling voice), "A, Like I have an A!"

The other fun story of late is about Nora's favorite assistant at pre-school. On the way to pre-school on Wednesday, Nora proclaimed that she wanted a tongue ring, just like Jenna. Yup, our daughter knows what a tongue ring is! I explained that a tongue ring is only for grown ups. She asked me why I didn't have one and I told her it hurts too much for me to get one. Right when we got to school she asked Jenna if she could touch her tongue ring. That lead to a whole other discussion about not being able to put your hands in someone elses mouth. Nora followed that up with, "But Georgia (the 10 month old that shares our nanny) puts her hands in Dydy's (our nanny) mouth all the time!" So we had to modify the statement to only babies put their hands in peoples' mouths. We explain things all day around here!

The 'why' question is in full force around here. Most of the time Nora knows the answer to all the 'why's' she asks and is just trying to make conversation. So my canned answer has become, "You tell me why". Of course, she usually knows the answer.

Nora writes her name

Earler this afternoon, April mentioned that she had been playing Scrabble with Nora. I was thrilled to hear that Nora recognized 15 of the letters! It seems that all of the letter games she has been playing on the computer are rubbing off.

When April, Nora and Nic came to pick me up from work this evening, Nora wanted to come into my office and doodle on the whiteboard. She started with scribbles, then a square with a smiley face. Just for fun, I asked her if she wanted to write her name. You can imagine my reaction when I watched her write this on my whiteboard a minute later:
